How much does a concrete patio cost in Sacramento?
The finish selected affects the price more than the area does. A broom-finished patio is the least expensive concrete surface available. Stamped concrete and exposed aggregate cost more, as both require additional material, additional labor and a crew experienced in the technique.

What is stamped concrete, and is it suitable for a patio?
Stamped concrete is a slab with a pattern pressed into the surface while the concrete is still green, generally with color applied at the same time, producing the appearance of stone, brick or plank. It is a single continuous pour, so there are no units to shift underfoot and no joints for weeds to establish in, which distinguishes it from pavers.
It is well suited to patios, which are viewed at close range. Two considerations apply: the pattern and color are permanent decisions made on pour day, and a stamped surface requires periodic resealing to maintain color.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of exposed aggregate?
Exposed aggregate removes the top layer of cement paste to reveal the stone within the mix. It is highly durable, provides good traction underfoot, and conceals dirt and minor surface marks better than most alternatives, which accounts for its frequency on patios and pool surrounds.
The disadvantages are that it is rougher than a broom finish, making it less comfortable underfoot and harder to move furniture across, and that it requires more effort to sweep clean. It also costs more than a broom finish.
Can an existing concrete patio be extended or repaired?
Extension is a routine job. The new section is tied into the existing slab and the joint is positioned so the transition reads as deliberate rather than as the point where the old slab ended. An exact finish match is not always achievable, and we confirm this before work begins.

How soon can a new concrete patio be used?
Foot traffic is generally acceptable after one to two days, and furniture after approximately one week. Concrete continues to gain strength well beyond that point, which is why heavy loads should be kept off the slab early even though the surface appears complete.
Where the patio has a stamped or colored finish, sealing is carried out after the slab has cured and we will advise on timing. Walking on the surface before it is sealed causes no damage.
